The City of Hume is leading an ambitious agenda for the circular economy in Hume. Informed by a comprehensive Business Case completed in 2021 by KPMG, Hume Council's Toward Hume as a Circular City is promoting and facilitating a circular economy transition for Hume.

Spearheaded by Council's Circular Business Network, Hume is taking circular action across multiple sectors, including toward a conducive policy environment, encouraging circular business model transitions, and engaging community to leverage existing and new circular projects.

Some current efforts include the Collaborate to Thrive project, a partnership between Hume Council, Circular Economy Victoria and Victoria University, exploring and supporting circular economy opportunities for Hume and contributing to the Towards Hume as a Circular City program.

Our council sees the circular economy transition as being community-driven involving residents, interest groups, businesses, social enterprise, and industry associations. We will position ourselves to facilitate the ideas and projects from our community to enable the circular transition.
